FLORIDA TURKEY HUNTING

Reservations are recommended and a minimum of two hunters is necessary.

FLORIDA TURKEY HUNTING

Osceola Outdoors turkey hunts are conducted in the south and central zones on eight different ranches. The ranches range in size from 1,000 acres to 4,500 acres. The terrain consist of improved pasture lands, oak hammocks and pine islands. All prime Osceola habitat! Osceola Outdoors along with the ranch owners manage the game with select harvest practices and supplemental feeding programs to insure large populations of Osceola turkeys. It is not uncommon to have three or more long-beards come into a calling setup.

Osceola Outdoors books 4 hunters in camp at one time and all hunts are conducted as 1×1 guided hunts. We book 25 to 30 hunts a season in the south and central zone with our success rate being over 90%! Florida allows for all day turkey hunting from ½ hour before sunrise until sunset. A hunt will usually consist of a morning hunt, lunch and an afternoon hunt. All hunts are conducted as 1×1 three day guided hunts. Osceola Outdoor guides are experienced guides as well as great callers.

EQUIPMENT

Turkey season in Florida can range from 90-degree days to waking up with a light frost on the ground. During March, temperatures will average 50 degree mornings to 80 degrees by noon.

The threat of rain is always a possibility, so pack a rain suit. Footwear is an essential element that should be waterproof and comfortable. A spring turkey hunt is not the place to break in a new pair of boots!! Binoculars, a small flashlight and a Thermacell are a few necessary items to include with your turkey hunting gear. Osceola Outdoors uses DSD decoys, www.davesmithdecoys.com, so it is not necessary to pack decoys. As for camo, we recommend Mossy Oak Obsession as it blends in well with the south Florida terrain. We also recommend bringing a small camera to record your memories.

FIREARMS

Please be familiar with the firearm that will be used. It needs to be patterned before your hunting trip. Too many times missed opportunities occur when a hunter is unfamiliar with his or her weapon. Pattern guns before your trip and know your guns effective range. Many of our shooting opportunities are on pastures; therefore, it is extremely important to have a tight choked gun. Here at Osceola Outdoors we shoot Kicks Gobblin Thunder choke tubes. Get on Target with Kicks! www.kicks-ind.com
